This paper intends to review three films produced in the 1360s (1981-1991) and 1380s (2001-2011) to investigate the consumerist lifestyle and hidden ideologies in this type of lifestyle. The paper has no claim that it thoroughly reviews the issue of consumerist lifestyle during these two decades. Using John Fiske’s semiotics, it has just tried to extract certain symbols of consumerist lifestyles in these two decades by studying three Iranian films in social problem genre. The findings of the research show that based on the three movies the main framework of consumerism is the same in these two decades. However, the inclusion of consumerist spirit and its expansion in the post Islamic Revolution Iranian society has been different.
